AUP PROCESSING NOTES: 1st Quarter 2016

1) Music headings: LC and NACO libraries have been updating medium of performance ($m) in many music authority records, following instructions at RDA 6.15.1.3: "If there is more than one part for a particular instrument or voice, record the number of parts" and the LC-PCC Policy Statement for RDA 6.28.1.91.1, which states "Always supply the number of parts for a particular instrument or voice, even if the number of parts is implicit in the preferred title." In other words, they are changing:

...$tDuets,$mviolins
to
...|tDuets,$mviolins (2).

2) For libraries that subscribe to MeSH authority control: As previously announced, NLM is now distributing bibliographic records with headings in "deconstructed" form. LTI offers a profile option to follow this practice. Users who wish to change their profile accordingly should contact Marsha Hunt.

3) Genre/Forms: LTI clients who are currently authorizing genre/form headings using both GSAFD (Guidelines on Subject Access to Individual Works of Fiction, Drama) and LCGFT should consider changing their processing options to convert GSAFD terms to LCGFT. GSAFD has not been updated since 2001, and the vast majority of the terms are now covered by LCGFT headings. Contact Marsha Hunt for more information or to change your profile.
